Moroccan midfielder, Sofyan Amrabat has said they prioritized finishing as group leaders after defeating Zambia in the last round game of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Côte d'Ivoire 2023. The midfielder who was key in the win over Zambia won the TotalEnergies Man of the Match.  Speaking after the game, Amrabat indicated being top of their group was one of their target and he is proud they ended up achieving it.  "We wanted this first place. The group stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d'Ivoire 2023, concluded on Wednesday night, setting up some highly anticipated knock-out stage clashes. Senegal young sensation, Lamine Camara has credited his senior teammates for his standout TotalEnergies Man of the Match performance in the team’s TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023 opening match against The Gambia.  Camara’s brace and his overall performance earned him the individual accolade which he says will motivate him to work even harder and it must also be credited to his teammates. “I am happy with this recognition. This is the result of the hard work that we all did. Winning the first match remains a good thing” said the Metz FC player who recently joined the French club. The Stallions of Burkina Faso will play their opening game in the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Côte d'Ivoire 2023 against Mauritania at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake. Burkina are touted as favorites for the clash in Group D as they face Al-Murabitun’s team, who are still chasing their first win in the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON after failing in their previous two attempts. Algeria touched down in Bouake on Wednesday with coach Djamel Belmadi eager for his team to start their participation in the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023.  Riyad Mahrez led a contingent of players and technical staff that arrived at the Aeroport De Bouaké, at 12:15pm local time with the Saudi Arabia-based captain revealing that the Desert Foxes had good preparations for the competition. The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) today announced the conclusion of extensive global broadcast agreements with TV-Broadcasting Rights Holders from Africa, Europe, Asia, South America, North America and the Caribbean ahead of the kick-off of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (“AFCON”) Côte d'Ivoire 2023. The tournament will kick off in Côte d'Ivoire on Saturday 13 January 2024. The global TV-Broadcast partners include Sky (United Kingdom), BBC (United Kingdom), LaLiga+ (Spain), SportItalia (Italy), Sport Digital (Germany & Switzerland), SportTV (Portugal), Viaplay (Nordics) and Band TV (Brazil). beIN Sport, CANAL+, New World TV and approximately 45 Free To Air broadcasters have also concluded partnership agreements with CAF and this will result in the TotalEnergies AFCON Côte d'Ivoire 2023 being broadcast in approximately 180 countries. The teams that will be playing at the 34th edition of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d'Ivoire 2023 continued with friendlies ahead of the tournament that kicks off on Saturday. Here are the results of the latest friendly matches played: Ghana 0 Namibia 0 In Kumasi, Ghana's Black Stars couldn't break through against a well-organized Namibia. Morocco became the first side, outside the host nation, to arrive in Cote d’Ivoire for the 34th edition of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations when the Atlas Lions landed in Abidjan on Sunday. The FIFA World Cup semi-finalists landed at Felix Houphouet Boigny Airport in the afternoon amid local traditional drumming and dancing to welcome the side to the host country of the continental showpiece event. The plane carrying coach Walid Regragui’s side landed in Abidjan at 2:00 PM local time before they were received in Terminal 2 with an impressive cultural ceremony arranged by the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON amid tight security. CAF Increases AFCON Prize Money by 40%

The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) today announced a 40% increase in the Prize Money for the Winner of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (“AFCON”) Côte d'Ivoire 2023. The Winner of the TotalEnergies AFCON Côte d'Ivoire 2023 will receive USD 7 000 000. The Runner-up of the TotalEnergies AFCON Côte d'Ivoire 2023 will now get USD 4 000 000. Each of the two semi-finalists will receive USD 2 500 000 and each of the four quarter-finalists, USD 1 300 000. The President of CAF Dr Patrice Motsepe said: “CAF has made significant progress over the past two years in increasing the Prize Money of the AFCON and all its other major competitions. We have increased the Prize Money of the AFCON Winner to USD 7 000 000 which is a 40% increase from the previous AFCON Prize Money.
